The Automatic Terrain Detection System (ATDS) provides next-generation perception for manned, unmanned, and autonomous wheeled and tracked ground vehicles. This system provides capabilities not available in visual and radar-based detection systems, by accurately monitoring ground conditions in real-time. These enhanced capabilities enable analytical mobility calculations allowing for autonomous systems and operators to determine minimum/maximum speeds, stopping distance, driveline lock control, and cost mapping, providing that critical feedback increasing safety, production, and helping to ensure a successful mission.
HOW IS YOUR AUTONOMOUS SYSTEM DETERMINING...
- Are terrain conditions impacting vehicle performance?
- What speed will terrain conditions allow?
- How quickly can I stop?
- Will I over-steer or under-steer?
- Would 4WD enhance performance?
- Should I adjust my travel path?
- Am I experiencing a mechanical issue?
- How are appropriate filters determined?
