GS Engineering selected as Track Technology Integrator for Ground Combat Vehicle (GCV)

Building on over 10 years of successful industry experience, it was announced today that GS Engineering, Inc. was selected through a competitive process to be the Track Technology Integrator for one of the Ground Combat Vehicle (GCV) competitors. The GCV vehicle is the U.S. Army’s replacement program for armored fighting  vehicles of the future. The GCV program will highlight the latest innovation while delivering state of the art technology to the warfighter for years to come.

GS Engineering based a portion of its proposal upon Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) technology that was actually developed during GS Engineering’s first contract back in 2002. Other SBIR technology from follow on efforts, combined with industry experience from GS Engineering’s employees, was also proposed and  accepted, making this award a true team effort. This award compliments the Green Forces Initiative that GS Engineering is heavily involved with by supporting Upper Peninsula business growth through direct defense related activities.

The award will allow for future development of specific technology related to roadwheels, idlers, complete track systems and sprockets. The GS Engineering team will be responsible for bringing forward a lightweight, efficient and cost effective solution to allow for a competitive position to be gained by the awarded OEM. The size  and scope of this effort is significant, but well within the capabilities of the 60 person organization.

This effort is one of several recent awards for GS Engineering, including a new Phase I SBIR effort from the US Marine Corps in support of wheeled vehicle mobility. Chris Coxon, Vice President of GS Engineering, was quoted saying “all of our recent commercial program success and continued growth in the defense market  demonstrates our ability to not only sustain GS Engineering, but to also strategically diversify to support growth in years to come. Our customers are leaders in industry and their success will be our success.”
